I bought a Pokémon Violet a few years back and luckily, I was able to play through with Squirtle. I got it via Home in Pokémon Go, although I had to travel a bit.
I was especially intrigued by the compatibility between Pokémon HOME and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
If you are wondering how and where you can find Squirtle in Pokémon, I will help you answer these questions since I have been a Pokémon enthusiast for years.
How to catch Squirtle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
💦Squirtle tend to spawn in water, so Dive Balls are used to catch them. Starter Pokémon appear in Terarium after you contribute BPs to the environmental clubs at Blueberry Academy.
To get BPs, you must complete Blueberry Quests, or BBQs for short. You will be assigned the tasks after you complete your first class in Terarium.
Then, you will need to complete a lot of BBQs to reach 3000BPs to expand the Canyon Biome.
😏However, you won’t be able to progress the Indigo Disk story when you go to Terrarium before starting The Way Home, only after you go to Area Zero for the first time. Instead, this will lead to being blocked before meeting Carmine in Terarium.
Then, you will battle Carmine to gain access to the League club. You have to complete the first class in Coastal Biome to do BBQs.
It is thus possible to farm BPs before you progress the Indigo Disk storyline.
Here are the steps to follow after reaching 3000BPs.

Where to find Squirtle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
🙌You can find Squirtle, a Water-type Starter Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in the southern waters of the Canyon Biome in Terarium.
Squirtle will be found in the Canyon Biome after completing the Boost Canyon Biome Biodiversity request in the support board.
As mentioned earlier, you will contribute 3000BP to upgrading the Canyon Biome at the League Club in Blueberry Academy. BPs are the blueberry points that are currency-inclusive for Blueberry Academy.
To access Terarium, you need the Indigo Disk DLC, and you have to complete the Starfall Street story, Victory Road story, Path of Legends story, The Way Home story, and Kitakami/Teal Mask story.
Can you transfer Squirtle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
😃You can transfer Squirtle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with Pokémon Home. Trading or transferring a Squirtle is done if you don’t have the expansion pass for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
You must be a Nintendo online member to link your Nintendo Account to the Pokémon HOME app on Switch. Create or join a group in the Union Circle to trade.
Then, use the pause menu (X-button) to access the Poke Portal. Scroll down to Link Trade and Set Code to trade with someone.
To transfer Pokémon, go to Pokémon HOME on the Switch, select the Pokémon game you want to transfer, and place it in the HOME Basic Box. Squirtle is transferred in these games;
- Pokémon Sword/Shield (Isle of Armor DLC)
- Pokémon GO
- Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! /Eevee!
- Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
To send Squirtle from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, go to Pokémon GO’s settings and link your GO account to your Nintendo Account.
Then, navigate to Connected Devices and Services in Go’s settings to send Squirtle to Pokémon HOME.
