How do Pokémon QR codes work? (What are Pokémon QR codes used for?)

Among the best features that the Pokémon team developed was the QR code. I got to experience and use this feature in Pokémon Sun and Moon while in university.

The capabilities one could achieve with the QR codes are so numerous, such as letting you scan codes with the QR scanner to get the location of a Pokémon without seeing them first.

Getting the location of a Pokémon is just one of many ways QR codes are used.

If you want to know more about these QR codes and how they work, read along to learn more about them.

You can use the QR codes in Pokémon by redeeming or using them quickly with Pokémon GO’s integrated QR scan feature! By scanning these codes with your camera, you get to access the benefits that are held within that QR code😁.

If you want to join a party, you can tap the join party button and then scan the QR code of the host using the camera on your device📱.

If you want to add as many as possible friends, even hundreds, you can use the QR codes. All in all, there are many ways in which you can use the QR codes in Pokémon Go.

What does scanning Pokémon’s QR codes do?

By scanning the QR code, you get to access its benefits. Battling a nearby trainer by scanning their battle code is one benefit.

You must be near your opponent to initiate a battle using your Battle Code, a QR code that other trainers can scan to combat you if your opponent is not an Ultra Friend or Best Friend.

Start a battle by scanning the battle code of another trainer or by asking them to scan yours.

You can also add friends by scanning Pokémon QR codes. It is an efficient and fast way to add as many friends as you want in Pokémon Go. The QR codes used to add friends are different from battle codes. Only Trainer Battles may be started with these Battle QR Codes, and new ones are created each time you log into Pokémon GO.

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, the QR Scanner allows you to track Pokémon as they appear in Pokédex by scanning QR codes.

As soon as the required number of QR codes have been scanned, the user can search for rare Pokémon on Island Scan.

You can also get a Pokémon by scanning the QR code in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Simply visit Pokémon’s Pokédex page and select the Habitat tab to get its in-game location.

Doing this lets you see the island and the spot where the Pokémon can be found. This is the process for obtaining a Pokémon through a QR code.

A player also gains points for each QR code they scan🙂. For example, the Rotom Pokédex generates Alola Pokédex QR Codes with a point value of 10. Special QR Codes are created for official purposes only, with a 20-point value.

One of the ways you can get Pokémon is through the island scan. Island Scan looks for rare Pokémon on the island the player is currently on.

It will always locate a Pokémon on Alola’s natural islands; however, Island Scan will not work and will not count as a use in Aether Paradise or Ultra Space. Depending on the island and day of the week, it will locate different Pokémon.

None of these Pokémon are indigenous to the Alola region. In addition to informing the player where a Pokémon has been found, Island Scan starts a countdown that lasts one hour after starting to use the feature.

Some of the Pokémon found on Melemele Island, which is in the Alola region, include:

How do you scan a group QR code in Pokémon GO?

For what purpose are Pokémon QR codes utilized?

One way to scan a group QR code is in situations like joining a party. To join this party group, you must be at least level 15.

Be sure to be close to the host of your party. As per Niantic, party participants must be roughly the same distance apart. If those circumstances hold, take these actions:

  • Once Pokémon Go has launched, touch on your avatar’s picture in the lower left corner to access your trainer menu.
  • To access the party screen, tap the new “PARTY” tab located at the top of the screen next to “ME” and “FRIENDS.”
  • To continue, tap “JOIN PARTY.”.
  • Use the host’s phone to scan the party’s QR code.
