🚀Since the launch of this feature in August of 2020, I’ve had the privilege to Mega Evolve Charizard several times. Nevertheless, I still get an adrenaline rush and goosebumps just watching a Charizard Mega Evolve into a terrifying and more powerful version of itself.
But before you get too excited. I have to give you a precaution – Charizard Mega Evolution is not permanent.
Heartbreaking? Yeah. I know.
So, before you get your hopes up, here is all you need to know about the Charizard Mega Evolution time frame.
Is Charizard Mega Evolution Permanent?
⏳Charizard Mega evolution is not permanent. Charizard can only last in its Mega Evolved state for about 8-hours. After that, it returns to its normal state.
Note that Mega evolution is different from the normal Charizard evolution that happens at level 16 and level 36.
In evolution, the Charizard changes its form permanently to become a new species. On the other hand, Mega Evolution only changes the appearance of Charizard.
This way, it becomes stronger and gains more unique abilities suited for battles.
🐉In addition to this, the Charizard will also change its type. You might already know that the Charizard is a Fire and Flying type.
When the Charizard Mega evolves, it could evolve into a Mega Charizard X – a fire and dragon type, or it could evolve into a Mega Charizard Y – a fire and flying type.
When Charizard is in its Mega Evolved state, you can use it in;
- Battling Raids
- Gyms Battles
- Team Go Rocket encounter Battles
- Battling against Friends
- Use it as a Buddy
How do you keep Pokémon Mega Evolved for more than 8 hours?
A Mega-Evolved Charizard can stay in that form for up to 8 hours. Ideally, after this time has elapsed, the Charizard goes back to its original form.
This period is known as the cooling process. It can last for about 24-72 hours, after which you can Mega Evolve the Charizard again.
💡However, there is a way you can skip the resting period to extend the duration in which your Charizard will be in its Mega Evolved form. It can be done by buying more Mega Energy . The cost of skipping the cooling process varies with species.
How do you Mega Evolve a Charizard?
📝To Mega Evolve a Charizard, you need to have a significant amount of Mega Energy that can be acquired by;
- Participating in Mega Raids that earn you about 150 – 250 Mega Energy for every successful raid.
- Complete Timed Tasks and Field Research.
Once you have accumulated enough Mega Energy, select ‘Map View’ and tap on the ‘Main Menu’ button. Click on the ‘Pokemon’ button, then tap on the ‘Can Mega Evolve’ option.
Find your Charizard from your list of Pokemon that can Mega Evolve. Click ‘Yes.’ Your Charizard will Mega Evolve.
