How to Get Blast Burn for Charizard (Can Charizard Learn Blast Burn?)
Recently, I tried teaching a Shadow Charizard Blast Burn. I evolved it and used a Charge TM to replace Frustration, but he didn’t get Blast Burn. Despite changing its charge moves, I was unsuccessful 😞.
This was a bummer, but I wasn’t about to give up. I scoured the internet for a solution, and my research led me down a rabbit hole of information.
I came out the other side with more than I set out to find and decided to share what I learned about teaching your Charizard Blast Burn.

Can you teach Charizard Blast Burn on Community Day?
Yes 😊. You can teach Charizard Blast Burn on Community Day. To do this, evolve your Charmander into a Charizard between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. during the event.
Apart from Blast Burn, your Charizard will also acquire Dragon Breath. Community day events are perfect for getting Pokémon with legacy moves.
On other days, you’ll need an Elite TM to teach your Charizard Blast Burn.
Where can Charizard learn Blast Burn?
This depends on which game you’re playing. The original Pokémon series relies on tutors to teach your Charizard Blast Burn.

Conversely, the Mystery Dungeon Series follows a different strategy in teaching Charizard Blast Burn. Here’s a breakdown:
Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team
Charizard learns this move at level 99 with at least 333 IQ. If not, he will relearn it at Gulpin Link Shop after meeting these requirements.
Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky
Charizard learns this move at level 72 with at least 300 IQs. If not, he will relearn at Electivire Link Shop.
Super Mystery Dungeon
Charizard learns this move from Hawlucha’s Slam School for 11,000 coins.
Rescue Team DX
Charizard learns this move at Gulpin’s Link Shop for 11,000 coins.
Is Blast Burn a good move for Charizard?
Yes. Blast Burn is a good move for Charizard. Its 150 Base Power and 90% accuracy deal 110 damage on opponents. Blast Burn is perfect when facing Bug, Steel, Grass, and Leaf Pokémon.
However, it’s useless against the Rock, Fire, Water, and Dragon types. It’s worth noting, however, that Blast Burn has a drawback.
Once used, your Charizard will need to recharge 🪫 before using another move.
Is Blast Burn on Charizard a legacy move?
Yes 👍. Blast Burn is a legacy move on Pokémon Go. A Legacy move is unavailable through breeding, leveling up, or TM’s.
Their unavailability increases the value and demand of Pokémon possessing these moves. You can only get this move by evolving Charmanders on Community Day or using Elite TM.
When does Charizard learn Blast Burn in Fire Red?
Your Charizard learns Blast Burn on Pokémon Fire Red after interacting with a tutor at Cape Brink on Two Island.
The tutor will only teach your Pokémon once it’s evolved to its final stage (Charizard) and once you have a high enough friendship rating. This latter requirement applies to the Generation III to VII series.
Can Charizard learn Blast Burn without Elite TM?
Yes. Charizard can learn Blast Burn without an Elite TM. As mentioned, you can evolve your Charmander or Charmeleon into a Charizard on Community Day.
The evolved Charizard will learn Blast Burn and Dragon Breath, which make it more formidable in battles.
Does Charizard from Mega Raids have Blast Burn?
Not always. Mega Charizards revert to their regular forms after being captured in Mega raids. As such, you’ll get Blast Burn in Charizards that evolved with this ability.
However, you can teach your Charizard Blast Burn using an Elite TM. This process will replace an existing charge move with Blast Burn.
How do you get Blast Burn on Shadow Charizard?
Getting Blast Burn on your Shadow Charizard differs slightly from a regular Charizard. You’ll first evolve your Shadow Charmander into a Charmeleon.
Next, use a Charge TM to forget the Frustration move, then change it into a Charizard. The Charizard will have Blast Burn. If not, use an Elite TM to teach it this move.
