If you grew up in the 1990s like me, you are probably aware of the Pokémon craze during this era. I first came across Charizard in elementary school through a friend.
It did not take me too long to realize that Charizard was appearing in almost all the Pokémon games. I was especially intrigued by the number of Pokémon series produced and the kind of attention the developers gave to Charizard.
Like many, I wondered why Charizard was in almost every Pokémon game. Since I have been a Charizard enthusiast for years, I will help you find out if Charizard is in every Pokémon game and if there are existing games where Charizard is not featured.
What Pokémon games are Charizard in?
🀄The first appearance of Charizard in video games was in 1996 in the popular Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Blue.
Eventually, Charizard started gaining popularity and has since been used as a character in almost all the Pokémon series, as shown in the table below:

From the table, it is clear that Charizard has appeared in almost all the Pokémon series.
❤Charizard seemed to be the most sought-after member of the Pokémon crew due to its ability to attract a huge market, and that is why the developers found it hard to produce a series without Charizard for fear that the game could not make sales.
However, according to fans, Charizard received unnecessary attention in Sword & Shield, overshadowing other new characters that were gaining popularity from fans.
Therefore, the new series Legends: Arceus proved that using Charizard in every Pokémon game was not a must to gain popularity.
Which Pokémon game is Charizard not in?
🏆Charizard does not appear in Legends: Arceus. Initially, it felt as though the Pokémon series could not do without Charizard as a character.
Surprisingly, Charizard is remarkably absent in the Arceus Pokedex, and the game is getting popular without Charizard.
Charizard fans will be disappointed not to experience Charizard in Legends: Arceus. Still, they will have to embrace it for a change as this game is gaining more popularity and making a profit for its developer.
Other games without Charizard that gamers have positively received include Pokémon Colosseum, ORAS, GSC, DPD, XD, RSE, BW, SM, and B2W2.
