Rare as the holy grail and equally elusive, the iconic Charizard has grown to become a favorite among the majority of Pokémon Go fans, myself included!
I was recently able to evolve my Charizard to Mega Charizard X, gaining access to more powerful and dangerous moves against fierce opponents.
I decided to conduct extensive research on how my Mega Charizard X could maximize and better wield its newfound powers, and the feedback was immensely useful.
In this article, I’ll share with you Mega Charizard X’s moves and its most effective movesets.
What is the best moveset for Mega Charizard X?
💥Mega Charizard X’s best moveset is Fire Spin and Blast Burn, which can deal 18.83 damage per second and up to 598.9 damage before the Charizard faints.
These statistics are true when battling in neutral weather, but they can be boosted when battling in sunny weather.
Note that Blast Burn is a legacy move that can only be obtained during special events or by using an Elite Charged Technical Machine (TM).
How much damage can a Mega Charizard X deal?
💣The amount of damage a Mega Charizard X can deal depends on the moveset it executes. For example, when it executes Fire Spin and Blast Burn, it can deal 18.83 damage per second (DPS) and a total damage output (TDO) of 598.9.

What moves can Mega Charizard X learn?
🔥Mega Charizard X can learn five charged moves, including Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Blast Burn, Dragon Claw, and Overheat; and five fast moves, including Dragon Breath, Ember, Wing Attack, Air Slash, and Fire Spin.
All these moves, except Air Slash and Wing Attack, benefit from the Same Type Attack Bonus, meaning they deal 20% more damage to opponents.
Ember, Wing Attack, and Dragon Breath are Legacy Elite Fast Moves, while Flamethrower and Blast Burn are Legacy Elite Charged Moves.
You can only access them during special events or by using Elite Charged or Elite Fast Technical Machines.
Can a Mega Charizard X do dragon moves?
💪Absolutely. Mega Charizard X is a Fire & Dragon-type Pokémon that can do dragon moves like Dragon Breath and Dragon Claw.
Both moves offer the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB), dealing 20% more damage to opponents.
Dragon Claw deals 50 damage in Gym and Raid Battles, while Dragon Breath deals 6 damage. Note, however, that Dragon Breath is a Legacy Elite Fast Move, meaning you can only obtain it during special events or by using an Elite Fast TM.
How powerful is Mega Charizard X?
Mega Charizard X is strong against fire- and grass-type Pokémon with 39% damage absorption and against bug-, electric-, and steel-type Pokémon with 62.5%.
On the other hand, it is weak against ground–, dragon-, and rock-type Pokémon with a high damage absorption of 160%.
Does Mega Charizard X have evolutions in Pokémon Go?
No. Mega Charizard X currently doesn’t have evolutions in Pokémon Go. However, you can evolve Charizard to Mega Charizard X for 200 Mega Energy the first time and 40 Mega Energy every other time.
