You first need to get your hands on a Shiny Charizard to mega evolve it into Shiny Mega Charizard Y or X. You can catch a Shiny Charizard by evolving a wild shiny Charmander into a Shiny Charizard or through Mega Charizard Y or X raids.

Once you catch a Shiny Charizard, you can now proceed to the Mega Evolution process. You now need to collect 200 Mega Energy by doing activities with a buddy Pokémon, completing certain research tasks, and participating in raids. Once you have collected them, do the following.

  • Go to the Shiny Charmarders stat page
  • Look for the button labeled Pokémon Go Mega Evolve and click on it
  • Pick between Mega Charizard Y and Mega Charizard Y evolution
