When is Lugia coming back to Pokemon Go? (Can you still get Lugia in Pokémon GO?)

Since Pokémon Go introduced its Raid Boss rotation, I have been keeping up with 5-star raids. 🤗In 2023, I participated in a special raid event and managed to catch Lugia.

I had to work closely with a group of 5 high-level trainers with the right encounters to catch it. Since then, I have been looking forward to the return of Lugia in Pokémon Go.

Having realized that I am not the only fan with these sentiments, I created this post to help you discover when Lugia is coming back to Pokémon Go.

So stick around for that!

Niantic features the famous Team Go Rocket as a regular event that offers you old and new Shadow Pokémon encounters.

The last Team Go Rocket Takeover event was in October 2023. This marked the debut of Shadow Lugia as a legendary Shadow Raid boss.

We are yet to receive confirmation from Niantic on whether Shadow Lugia will be coming to raids in 2024. With that said, you should know that you can only engage in Shadow Raids by using in-person raid passes.

🤕Shadow Lugia is a flying and Psychic type that is weak to rock, ice, ghost, electric, and dark type attacks. Beating Shadow Lugia is not easy due to Shadow work mechanism and Lugia’s natural bulk.

🙅Shadow Lugia is not banned in this game. However, it is banned from the Pokémon TCG. Gale of Darkness, which is a promotional item from Pokémon XD, was released for the Trading Card Game.

On the card, Shadow Lugia can only utilize the move known as Shadow Storm, which has 300 HP and does 1000 damage for 4 psychic energies.

Due to this, it is banned from every tournament. Since it is not a V, EX, or GX card, gamers would only get a single prize for knocking it out.
