I have always been a fan of the Charizard Ex since its release back in 2014 as part of the Pokemon TCG (XY) expansion. I’m grateful for being the first few people to own this card because of its limited availability.
It is a rare card sought after by many collectors. One of my favorites moves was the belly drum in which I could be able to defeat my opponents despite them having more evolved pokemon than mine😂.
I found myself playing these cards almost every opportunity I got between my class hours and sometimes even in class. 🤫
Now let’s get into further details and find out how to ameliorate your Charizard by carrying the belly drum move. 💪

How to teach the Charizard belly drum
There’s no specific way to teach the Charizard belly drum, but you can obtain the move through breading. You will therefore need a Pokemon that already knows the belly drum move and breed it with your charizard.
You can choose to use the monster egg breeding group with sornolax or the dragon egg breeding group with kommo-o.
Charizards are almost always made, so the other Pokemon chosen should be a female. After breeding the two, the Charmander, which comes out after the egg has hatched, will know the belly drum move.
Is the Belly Drum Charizard possible in Gen 2?
Yes, belly drum is possible in Charizard Gen 2, but only through breeding. It is also important to note that the only Pokemon with the ability to pass down the move is Sornolax(😉).
This means that if you are interested in getting a Gen 2 Charizard with the belly drum move, you have to breed a male sornolax with a female Charmander, Charizard, or even Charmeleon.
How to Get Belly Drum in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
It is possible to obtain the feature from a scarlet and violet Pokemon that has already learned the feature. This is easy, as you just need to copy it.
A Pokemon that automatically learns this move in the game is the Makuhita when you reach level 25. Other evolutionary forms of the Makuhita, such as Hariyama and Iron Hands, also learn this move.
Below (👇) is a table that shows the level at which these evolutionary forms learn the belly drum move.
Evolutionary form | Level |
Iron Hands | 84 |
Hariyama | 26 |
Munchlax | 48 |
Snorlax | 48 |
To be able to copy the move, you’ll require some mirror herbs, which allow you to transfer a specific move from one Pokemon to another in your party. Obtaining the mirror herbs is easy; you just have to visit the Delibird Presents Shop and buy them there.
Once in possession of the Mirror Herb, all you need to do is use it from the inventory to copy a skill you require, which is the belly drum in our case.
How hard would it be to get a Charmander or Charizard with a belly drum?
It is quite hard to get a Charmander or Charizard with a belly drum. This is so because it is not possible to pass down tutor moves. The only way in which one can obtain the belly drum move (and fire punch, just to mention) is by breeding a belly drum. Charmander in emerald

Is Belly Drum good on Charizard?
Compared to other moves that a Charizard can get, belly drum is usually a better option. For instance, a sword dance-boosted brick break is capable of busting up Snorlax, Blissey, and even Tyranitar, but it is nothing compared to what the belly drum move can do.
With the belly drum feature, it is possible to destroy teams even after bulky water has drained and Pokemon with speed like Gengar and Starmie have been done away with.
It is also possible for a Charizard with the belly drum move to run a salac berry and assist with the latter issue.
