Adding a second charge attack to my Pokemon has been a game-changer in my PvPs battles. The new attack on Pokemon Go has allowed me to explore new battle strategies😁.
Suddenly, my pokemon aren’t just one-trick ponies but they are now multi-faceted powerhouses ready to adapt to any situation That second charge attack has given me the edge I need to face off my opponents.
Keep reading and I’ll be explaining why I consider getting a new attack as a worthy pursuit and why learning the new attack after evolution is better.
What is the new attack option in Pokemon Go?
The ‘new attack’ option in Pokemon Go is a feature that allows your pokemon to learn a second charged attack.
This charged attack allows the pokemon to have more powerful moves which complement the initial fast moves.
Before, Pokemon Go only allowed one charged attack at a time.
The new attack option adds a second charge attack to any Pokemon you apply it on. After paying the Stardust and Candy cost, you will be able to that on a specific pokemon character.
This feature enables you to customize your Pokemon’s moves to a better battle strategy and allows you to be adaptive while fighting your opponents.
How does the new attack work in Pokemon Go?
The new charge attack is randomly assigned from the available pool of moves. By using it, your Pokemon has the option to use any of the two attacks in either gyms, raids, or PvPs. Charge attacks are part of your character’s best moves, handling the most damage.
However, this depends on your character type. For example, when you’re using Tyranitar and you want to use Stone Edge to deal with Rock damage but your opponent throws something that Dark moves can stand against, having a second Charge attack will come to your rescue💪.
If your Tyranitar has a second Charge attack that ends up with Crunch, you can easily begin handling the maximum possible amount of damage with his Charge moves.
Does selecting “New Attack” swap out the current charged attack or give your Pokemon an extra attack slot?
Selecting “New Attack” doesn’t swap out the current charged attack but rather it gives your Pokeman an extra attack slot. It doesn’t duplicate the one the Pokemon already has.
Instead, a new move will be randomly picked from the available moves. If you have already unlocked a new Charged attack, you’ll be prompted to select which charged attack you want to be replaced with a completely new charged attack, different from the two already in use.
Is it worth getting a new attack in Pokemon Go?
Yes👌, It is worth getting a new attack because you will still get to keep your old attack in addition to the new one. This gives you more room to explore new strategies.
However, the decision to get a new attack depends on many factors including your Pokemon character type, what you intend to use it for, be it PvPs, raids, or Gym battles, and the specific attacks available.
For PvP battles, having double-charge moves is an added advantage and is considered a must-have.
What happens when you learn a new attack in Pokemon Go?
Learning a new attack provides a more effective way of dealing with your opponent’s matchups. Using a Charged attack that utilizes less energy to bait out Protect Shield, gives you an upper hand in utilizing the false sense of security from your opponent’s end to unveil a massive hit using your other charged attack.
The available options increase your move set and you can exploit your opponent’s weaknesses using the learned new attack.
What happens when a shadow Pokemon learns a new attack?
When a shadow Pokemon learns a new attack, the new attack will not be ‘frustration’ and it will not have the TM usage restrictions that frustration has😎.
You can also wait for certain events that allow you to TM off frustration. Once it is gone, you can TM the slot at any given time.
Teaching the Shadow Pokemon the new attack allows it to be more versatile in your battle strategy.
Should I teach my Pokémon a new attack after evolution?
Deciding whether to teach your Pokemon a new attack after or before evolution depends on your battle strategy and available move set.
However, it is advisable to teach the new attack after because evolving a Pokemon will reset its Combat power and level rendering the new attack learned wasted👎.
Waiting until your Pokemon has high Individual values is a good idea before investing dust and Candy in powering it up by learning a new move.
The cost of getting a new attack depends on your Pokeman type and the specific events that are going on. A simplified cost breakdown is as follows.
